"Galaxy Dress"

The Galaxy Dress fue la pieza central de la exposición "Avance rápido: Inventar el futuro" en el Museo de Ciencia e Industria de Chicago. El museo celebró sus 75 años en el 2006 y para conmemorarlo incluyó el Galaxy Dress en su colección permanente. GalaxyDress proporciona un efecto espectacular e hipnótico que se borda con 24000 píxeles a todo color, es la pantalla portátil más grande del mundo.


GalaxyDress utiliza los píxeles más pequeños a todo color que son planos como el papel y miden solo 2 por 2 mm. Los circuitos son extrafinos, flexibles y están bordados a mano en una capa de seda de forma que se estira, por lo que la tela luminosa se puede mover como la tela normal con ligereza y fluidez. Para difundir la luz, hay 4 capas de gasa de seda que también se mueven maravillosamente bien.

La electrónica extra fina permite que el diseño siga la forma del cuerpo de cerca como con la tela normal. GalaxyDress está diseñado para funcionar con varias baterías de iPOD para que el usuario puede caminar. GalaxyDress no se sobrecalienta y consume muy poca electricidad gracias a la tecnología utilizada.

GalaxyDress es liviano, la parte más pesada no es la tecnología, sino la crinolina de organza de seda plisada de 40 capas que ensancha la falda. Las áreas sin luces están decoradas con más de 4000 cristales Swarovski aplicados a mano que hacen un degradado de cristal claro a brillante rosa, por lo que el vestido se ve bien también cuando está apagado.

FashionCampLA: The First Fashion + Technology UNConference In LA

FashionCamp LA is free and volunteer-run, in which anyone can present and everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge about fashion. Volunteering with Fashion Camp is a great way to meet new people working in fashion, learn about fashion technology, fashion eCommerce, and fashion 2.0. If you’re in the Los Angeles area on May 15th and May 16th, 2010 and are interested in how technology in fashion (blogging, social media, social networking, podcasting, videos, mobile content, etc) works, then please join and help out.

Volunteers can help out in various ways, including (but not limited to):

*Planning Fashion Camp LA.
*Presenting at Fashion Camp LA. Please send a blurb of what you want to speak on.
*Setting up/Taking down of the event.

FashionWare SXSW Exhibition

Syuzi Pakhchyan is very busy organizing the first major event in wearable technology of 2011, the FashionWare SXSW exhibition on March 18th and 19th in Austin, Texas.

The FashionWare show will bring on stage the most advanced and beautiful wearable tech garments of today. Here is a short list of some of the highly interesting designs awaiting the visitors to see: Klight, designed by Mareike Michel, Laser Suit from Wei-Chieh Shih, Petal Dress by Amy Winters, 3Elctromode with designs from Valerie Lamontage and Magalie Cn, Bats Have Feelings Too by Lynne Bruning and the Twinkle Pad by Diana Eng.
